Purchasing and Downloading E-books from Guilford
| 1) | In order to read or manage e-books on your computer, you first will need to download and activate the free e-book file-reading software, Adobe Digital Editions (ADE). (Please note: Adobe Digital Editions is a different product from the more common Adobe Reader.) Using ADE, you can also transfer your e-books to a compatible e-reader or other device. For more information on the downloading process, please see our FAQ page. |
| 2) | After activating ADE, test your software and system configuration with this free sample download. We recommend that you do this before placing your order, as e-book purchases are nonrefundable. |
| 3) | You can search for e-books or browse e-books by subject area. Once you have chosen the e-book you would like to buy, simply add it to your shopping cart. Click on "checkout" when you are finished shopping. |
| 4) | Once your payment has been accepted, you will be taken to a confirmation page that will prompt you to download your e-book. The download process will usually take between two seconds and two minutes, depending on the speed of your connection. Your ADE reader will open automatically and install your new e-book into your library (instructions are also provided throughout the downloading process). You can now read your e-book or transfer it to a compatible device. |
iPad/iPhone users: You will also need to download the free Bluefire e-Reader application to your device. Please refer to our Bluefire step-by-step guide.
