Supplementary SEM Materials

Welcome to the companion Web site for Principles and Practice of Structural Equation Modeling: 2nd Edition. The purpose of this site is to provide readers with additional resources for learning about SEM.

  • Instructors will find the electronic overheads helpful as they plan for their class discussions. They can be viewed, printed, and presented in Adobe Reader, which is freely available over the Internet. (Hint: The command Ctrl-L in Adobe Reader changes to full-screen view, which is ideal for in-class presentations.)

  • Students will find the same material helpful as class notes for their review of concepts and skills.

  • Files for computer syntax and data summaries for many of the examples in the book can be downloaded from this site. Computer syntax files are for Amos, CALIS, EQS, LISREL, Mplus, RAMONA, and SEPATH for the various examples. These files are typically text files that can be viewed with just a text editor such as Windows Notepad.

    Please note:
The syntax file is compressed and will require decompression with a program like WinZip.
We suggest you extract the compressed files to a folder called SEM. The system will create subdirectories corresponding to the chapter in the book where examples are discussed
    .

  • There are also links to SEM-related Web sites, including ones with freely-available software tools for SEM.

  • An errata for the first printing is available here.
