Manager of Pre-Production Development and Scheduling

Guilford Press has an immediate opening for a new Manager of Pre-Production Development and Scheduling. This position will ensure the publication of high-quality books and manuals through editorial workflows that emphasize streamlined manuscript development, and pre-transmittal and transmittal processes. The position will work with a wide variety of acquisitions editors and authors and will ensure quality, consistency, adherence to Guilford’s editorial standards and guidelines, and timeliness in meeting publication goals.

The position will directly manage the development of approximately 5 to 10 titles per year. The position will supervise pre-production development staff, as well as assign projects to freelance development editors, assessing and providing feedback on their work. The ability to oversee the establishment of best practices in the development and submission processes for manuscripts, while working collaboratively across editorial and production teams, will be a key component of the Manager of Pre-Production Development and Scheduling’s role.

The Manager of Pre-Production Development and Scheduling needs to be an outstanding communicator who can successfully collaborate with colleagues throughout Guilford and maintain high editorial and scholarship standards in accordance with Guilford’s mission and legacy.

This position is based out of our New York City office (near Penn Station in midtown Manhattan). This is not a remote work opportunity. Being available for in-office work on an ongoing basis is a key component of this position.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $90,000 annually, with a hiring salary dependent on skills and experience.
